Day 1
Today we start our nature and culture experience and leave from Paramaribo in a southerly direction. At Paranam the asphalt road changes into a laterite road, gradually the impressive forest giants and the villages appear. After about 190 km we arrive at the town of Atjoni and then start an exciting canoe trip. We sail for about 45 minutes by motorized canoe to the comfortable Anaula Nature Resort, located at the foot of the Ferulassi Falls, where you will spend the night. During this boat trip we come across breathtaking nature and various Maroon villages, where waving children and washing women stand along the riverbed. We also pass the turbulent Jaw Jaw rapids. After “checking in” you have the opportunity to explore the resort, after which lunch will be served in buffet form. After lunch we sail by canoe to a nearby swimming area, the Ferullasi rapids or to a beautiful sandy beach, where we can relax, swim and enjoy a natural bubble bath. After dinner information is provided about the area and explanations are given about the Saramaccan culture. After this we go on an exciting adventure in search of caimans. During this night cruise you can also enjoy the beautiful starry sky and experience the total silence of the Amazon rainforest.
Day 2
After the forest walk, you have until lunch to fish, swim or just sit in a hammock along the river enjoying the natural beauty and the beautiful view of the island. After lunch, we sail by canoe to the village of Nieuw Aurora for a village walk. During the tour of the village, you will get to know the local population and their unique way of life and their traditional habits and customs. We will visit the mission post with a church, the primary school and a medical post. After dinner, you can enjoy a cultural dance performance. Traditional dances such as the Seketi, Awasa and Bandamba are performed. The cultural dance evening is only offered with a minimum of 8 guests.
Day 3
This morning you can spend entirely according to your own needs. You can swim, take a walk in the forest, relax by the pool or in a hammock, or enjoy nature in peace. If you wish, you can also participate in excursions such as a more intensive walk in the forest or a visit to the agricultural plots of the local inhabitants. After lunch, departure to Paramaribo.
