The tour departs at 7:00 am from Gow2 van ‘t Hogerhuysstraat. Then you go by bus/SUV right through the heart of Paramaribo. After 20 minutes we are through the morning rush and we continue the journey on the Highway towards the Javanese restaurant at Suralco. There we have a small breakfast and we get some explanation about the bauxite mine. After breakfast we continue towards Brownsberg. The bus stops here and some explanation is given about the transmigration villages of the Saramaccans. Then we go up the unpaved path of the Brownsberg. This is an adventurous climb by car of 11 kilometers. Depending on the condition of the road, a 4-wheel drive bus is used. The way up is an adventurous ride, especially in the rainy season. Then we arrive at the top of the mountain, where a phenomenal view of the Brokopondo reservoir awaits you.

After lunch, the guide will give you water and a biscuit for the road, and then it is time to start the beautiful walk through the jungle. The paths are steep and in some places slippery, so it is advisable to wear sturdy shoes for the walk. The guide will tell you a lot about the flora and fauna that we encounter, such as the Ingipipa, the different types of monkeys and insects. The walk goes to the Leo waterfalls, about 45 minutes walk.

In the dry season there is less water here, or sometimes none at all. In that case you can choose, in consultation with the guide, to go to the 2nd waterfall: the Irene Falls. (In the rainy season you can also visit both falls.) This is about 45 minutes further down. The waterfall is breathtaking, you can stand below it in your bathing suit and take beautiful nature photos. Wonderfully cooled down and rested we go back to the top of the mountain after about 20 minutes, if you have chosen the Leo Falls. This is a reasonable climb.

Once arrived we will have lunch and continue to enjoy the view. Then we return to Paramaribo. You will be back in Paramaribo at approximately 18:30, depending on the walking pace of the guests and the choice of waterfalls.
