Menimi’ means “Remember me” in the language of the Saramaccan Maroons. These Maroons have lived for centuries in small villages on the wide, calm Suriname River. A stay at this friendly, clean and cozy holiday lodge is indeed an unforgettable experience.
Menimi is located on a piece of family land of more than ten hectares in nature, on the water. It is about 28 kilometers (1 hour) upstream from the landing place Atjoni,

At Menimi you can enjoy the water, but there are also activities:
– Forest walk to get acquainted with medicinal plants, various flowers, herbs and animal species.
– Visit one of the rapids (Fellulasi falls) where you can enjoy a massage through the water
– Village walk in one of the nearby villages to get to know the people and culture.
Day 1 – By boat and bus
You will depart Paramaribo for Atjoni around 8 AM, making stops for snacks and restroom breaks along the way. You will arrive in Atjoni between 11 and 12, where your canoe journey to the Menimi Resort begins, lasting about an hour. Upon arrival, a delicious lunch will be served. After lunch, you can check in and enjoy some free time to relax, explore the resort, or swim. Dinner is at 7 PM, followed by more relaxation at the resort.
Day 2 – Menimi
Awaken to the soothing sounds of nature. Breakfast is at 8 A.M., followed by a village walk at 9 A.M. After lunch, enjoy a forest walk with informative insights about the local flora and fauna. Dinner is served at 7 P.M., after which you can spot caimans on a night boat ride. Larger groups can also participate in a lively dance workshop with a local dance group.
Day 3 – Return journey
Breakfast will be served at 8:00 AM, allowing you time to enjoy the beautiful resort. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. After lunch, you’ll depart for Atjoni, and the driver will be ready to transport you safely to Paramaribo.
